Caring for a Budgie: Exercise

Budgies need their exercise and training. When you first bring them home watch them for the first two days. Then for the next twelve days start handling them twice a day. After two weeks, play with your pets for 20 minutes a day.

Once a week give your pets a shower in a small tank. Also once a week weigh the budgies using a kitchen scale. Weight it at the same time and the same day and it should have the same weight. Once a year and as soon as you bring it home take it to your vet or register for one.

Caring for a Budgie: Aviary

Aviaries are like outdoor cages. They are placed outside/ Aviaries are big so you can fit more budgies inside. You can fit up to twenty budgies inside. Make sure it is placed in the right area. This includes where no small animals can get inside; not placed near the road, and somewhere where you can see it from a window. You can put bigger stuff like a potted small tree.

Aviary size need to be at least 12 feed wide and 4 feet tall.

Caring for a Budgie: Cage

Everyday, clean the cage trays which are at the bottom of the cage. Scrape any dirty litter, or if you use bird sand-sheets replace them daily. Also everyday blow husks from the seed hopper and clean their water bottle. Also once a week clean their cage.

Cage size: need to be at least 18x18x24 (inches). No round cages: budgies don't feel safe in them.

Budgies need to eat grit, seeds, fresh fruit and vegetables, and to drink water.

Introducing the Budgie

They are so popular because they are easier to take care of than any other bird. They are members of the parrot family. And they are very small. The first people who kept budgies bred them to make different colors. Budgies are native to Australia and in the wild they are green with yellow heads. The picture below will tell you how to tell the difference between male and female budgies.
Budgies are also called:
